Procurement and Supply Chain Recruitment Market 2020............. from Beaumont Select
We have been busy at Beaumont, despite the obviously stagnant (lockdown) market in the first and second quarters. As one would expect, with little recruitment activity in the March, April and May lockdown, we have seen a significant rise in our client’s recruitment activity moving into June; and this rate has increased significantly into August. We are confident that in QTR4 will see a further significant upturn in recruitment demand (assuming the winter does not present a second wave of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections and government policy (effective track and trace!) ensures outbreaks can be controlled on a local level.)
The ending of the furlough schemes in October will undoubtedly, put huge pressure on the unemployment totals and the possibility of a no deal Brexit on 31st December, could lead to 'the perfect storm,’ but we hope that despite these challenges we will see a relatively dynamic and active trading environment, rather than a recessional one! Recent Markit/CIPS statistics and other pundits suggest higher manufacturing and services growth than expected and point to a shallower recession than previously predicted and the possibility of a faster economic recovery than originally thought. We are optimistic!
The good news for Procurement and Vendor Management professionals is that Procurement and Supply Chain is at the forefront of resolving many of the challenges of the oncoming year. Challenges presented by Coronavirus (COVID-19) and an uncertain relationship with Europe and beyond; is truly opportunity for Procurement Professionals and Procurement Functions to guide and drive effective strategy at the highest levels.
